@nofit_state_circus Stunning performance at Out There Festival @outtherearts_uk next to a Bamboology art instillation with woven bamboo splits.

I’m hosting bamboo stomping ground sessions for @outtherearts_uk this week. Yesterday an amazing group of youngsters from @freshlygreated came along to get involved. We shall see how the sculpture evolves in there hands over the week.

Wonky ass compost loo made with green sweet chestnut in the round from a local coppice debarked on site & English oak wavy edge boards.

I headed down to Rye Harbour Nature Resurve yesterday to see my out door class room design now 2 years old and going strong in a very exposed location. Aimi and staff can install the canopy in 5 minutes in 3 configurations to host activities in this wild landscape while providing protection from the winds and sun.

It’s been a pleasure to help weave this stunning design so far that will eventually house an exhibition of Tanzanian artefacts at the Humboldt Museum in November. This is just the beginning …🙃

Experiment in regenerative agricultural architecture at the land on Gad Reach. This exploration builds on my work with hay stook and meadow making. This composting basket is made from a recycled bamboo cocoon. Here a mixture of green and brown grass cuttings from the surrounding field is mixed with horse manure from a local livery along with green and ground wood chip. The idea is that it will decompose in time to form a raised bed in the meadow that can be planted up in the spring with a mixture of climbing beans and sprawling squash. let’s hope the worms help me out with there magic.

We are excited to announce our collaborated with Asali Bali to design the Phi Tower. Asali have come up with an astounding tessellation of bamboo to hold and inspire people. It was a privilege to collaborate with them on this design. It is currently under construction at the Eco Camp by Nuanu in Bali. We cant wait to see how it comes together on site.

Trekking through a high altitude bamboo forest in Thailand and finding some marshan looking fungi along the way.

I have been making this sculpture by hand without drawings inspired by the river and bamboo groves. Free flowing design of form as the material and the site expresses its self on the making process.

Location: Chaing Dao mountains Thailand

The central element here is an art installation build at Shambhala In Your Hart with bamboo wizard Tian and the rest of the construction crew. It was build out of bamboo splits and poles with the team over 4 day and might get a make over with fabric panels to flesh it out in the futures as per the original design. A massive thanks you to @bamboo_arthien for inviting me to contribute to this wonderful soulful festival.

A Nomadic Temple as the Bamboo Stage Rampage Festival 2023

Illuminated shoot sculpture built in remote woodland location at Noisily Festival.

Climbing bamboo towers with a view of the sea, I’m at home building ‘The Shoot’ in Hasting at @hastings_garden_festival on Today 18th from 12pm on the old bowls pitch.

A Memory from Love Jam Festival 2022. We are Looking forward to building with @lovejamcommunity again in 2023.

The Shoot 18th June 23

This public artwork will be designed and built by Bamboology. It is commissioned in part by Hasting Botanical Garden @hastings.botanic.garden for the Hastings Garden Festival.

The renowned tropical garden Trebah @trebahgarden generously allowed Bamboology to harvest some of their rare 8m tall Fargesia Lushensus bamboo for the creation of this artwork.

The Shoot interprets and amplifies the assurgent bamboo shoot into an architectural form that can be experienced from within. The work continues to explore and develop the strength found in cylindrical deformation through the use of a bamboo grid shell and recycled textiles.

Hastings Garden Festival 18th June

An adventure to the warmer climbs of Trebah in Cornwall. Look at this wonderful Phyllostachys edulis (Moso), I can’t believe its growing this big in the UK. A big thank you to head gardener Darren at Trebah for sponsoring my next art work with the supply of some massive Fargesia Lushiensis.

I am delighted to have designed, fabricated and installed an outdoor classroom for the @thebalehousenr at Hastings Country Park.

This semi permanent shelter is movable and has an attachable light weight canopy that can be easily hung in various configurations depending on the use and wind direction.

It was wonderful to see the teacher hang the fabric perfectly first time creating a home for playful adventure.

The Hay Stooks: Hastings Country Park

From graphite lines to hairy reality.

Back in early September with the help of @groundwork_south and the wonderful volunteers at Hastings Contry park we cut meadows by scythe and made 2 Hay Stook sculptures.

This work has been an exploration in reconnecting with a thriving scything culture and a agricultural process practiced in are not so distant past. It could represent a quite, community led and active way to manage our grassland meadows as we look towards the feature.

The Stook is supported in the center by a 4m bamboo pole and lifted off the ground via a bamboo trellis to allow air flow under the stack. Each is capped with a ceramic sculpture.

Thanks you so much @joannaterryceramics for firing these ceramic elements along with your invaluable advice. I’m a novice when it comes to this craft and it was so fun making with your support.

Nomadic Temple at @lovejamcommunity 2022

Making in Colorado to the sound of India’s ukulele @manifaestations.

This theatre pod, performance pagoda, PEACE PORTAL, will highlight the voices of Indigenous people in the Boulder, Colorado region via screened media. It will loop 'Confluence', a documentary about the intersection of Black Lives and the Indigenous Peoples' Movements. After that the Pod will be donated to a local Indigenous creative or organization via the Harvest of All First Nations Nations Indigenous-led organization, with a sustainability endowment for its care and further uses.
